| 1 John 1
1[WE ARE writing] about the Word of Life [in] Him Who existed from the beginning, Whom we have heard, Whom we have seen with our [own] eyes, Whom we have gazed upon [for ourselves] and have touched with our [own] hands. 태초부터 계신 분 안에 있는 생명의 말씀에 대하여 우리는 쓰고 있습니다. 우리는 그분에게서 직접 들었고 그분을 우리 눈으로 직접 주목하여 보았고 우리 손으로 그 분을 만져 보았습니다.
2And the Life [an aspect of His being] was revealed (made manifest, demonstrated), and we saw [as eyewitnesses] and are testifying to and declare to you the Life, the eternal Life [in Him] Who already existed with the Father and Who [actually] was made visible (was revealed) to us [His followers]. 이미 아버지와 함께 계셨고 제자인 우리에게 분명히 드러내 주신 그분 안에 있는 생명이 밖으로 분명하게 드러나서 그것을 본 목격자인 우리는 그분안에 있는 영원한 생명을 여러분에게 증거하고 선포하는 것입니다.
3What we have seen and [ourselves] heard, we are also telling you, so that you too may realize and enjoy fellowship as partners and partakers with us. And [this] fellowship that we have [which is a distinguishing mark of Christians] is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah). 우리가 보고 들은 것을 또한 여러분에게 전하는 것은 여러분이 우리와 마찬가지로 그분을 체득하고(현실로서 실감하고), 우리와 함께 동역자요 참여자로서 교제(친교)를 향유하기를 바라기 때문인데, 이 교제는 아버지와 아들 예수님과 함께 하는 것으로서 그리스도인의 뚜렷한 특징인 것입니다.
4And we are now writing these things to you so that our joy [in seeing you included] may be full [and your joy may be complete]. 지금 우리는 여러분에게 이것을 써보냄으로서 (그안에 포함된 여러분을 봄으로써)우리의 기쁨이 넘치고 또한 여러분의 기쁨이 완전해지기를 바랍니다.
5And this is the message [the message of promise] which we have heard from Him and now are reporting to you: God is Light, and there is no darkness in Him at all no, not in any way]. 이약속의 메세지는 바로 예수님께 들은 것인데 여러분께 전해드립니다.:하나님은 빛이시며 그분에게는 어두움이 조금도 없으십니다.
6[So] if we say we are partakers together and enjoy fellowship with Him when we live and move and are walking about in darkness, we are [both] speaking falsely and do not live and practice the Truth [which the Gospel presents]. 만일 우리가 함께 동역자요 그분과의 교제에 참여한 자라고 말하면서 여전히 어둠속에서 살고 움직이며 걷는다면 우리는 모두 거짓말하는 것이요, 복음이 나타내는 진리의 말씀을 살아내지도 행하지도 않고 있는 것입니다.
7But if we [really] are living and walking in the Light, as He [Himself] is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses (removes) us from all sin and guilt [keeps us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations]. 그러나 만일 빛안에 계신 그분처럼 우리가 실제로 빛안에서 살고 걸어간다면 우리는 서로서로 진실하고도 깨지지않는 교제를 갖게 되고 아들 예수님의 피가 우리를 모든 죄악에서 씻어주십니다.(모든 형태의 죄와 그 증상들로 부터 우리를 깨끗하게 보존해 주실 것입니다.)
8If we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude and lead ourselves astray, and the Truth [which the Gospel presents] is not in us [does not dwell in our hearts]. 만일 우리가 죄 없다고 한다면(우리의 죄인됨을 인정 않는다면) 우리는 그분을 기만하는 것이요, 우리 자신을 호도하는 것이요, 복음이 나타내는 바 진리가 우리 안에 없는 것입니다.(복음이 우리의 심령에 머무르지 않습니다.)
9If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action]. 만일 우리가 죄를 범해 왔음과 우리의 죄를 자유롭게 인정하고 고백하면, 신실하시고 정직한(그분의 본성과 약속에 대해 진실하신) 그분이 우리의 죄를 용서하시고(불법을 없이하시고) 계속적으로 모든 불의(목적, 생각, 행위에 있어서 그분의 뜻에 맞지 않는 모든 것들)에서 우리를 깨끗케 하십니다.
10If we say (claim) we have not sinned, we contradict His Word and make Him out to be false and a liar, and His Word is not in us [the divine message of the Gospel is not in our hearts]. 만일 우리가 죄 없다고 하면 우리는 그분의 말씀에 반대하는 것이요 그분이 틀렸으며 거짓말장이라고 하는 것이 되며 결국 그분의 말씀이 우리안에 없는 것입니다.(복음의 거룩한 메세지가 우리의 심령에 없는 것입니다.)
1 John 2
1MY LITTLE children, I write you these things so that you may not violate God's law and sin. But if anyone should sin, we have an Advocate (One Who will intercede for us) with the Father--[it is] Jesus Christ [the all] righteous [upright, just, Who conforms to the Father's will in every purpose, thought, and action]. 자녀들이여 내가 여러분에게 이것을 쓰는 것은 하나님의 법을 범하여 죄짓지 않도록 하기 위함입니다. 그러나 누군가가 죄를 범하면 우리에겐 하나님과 함께 계신(우리를 위해 중보하시는) 변호자가 계십니다. 그분은 바로 예수 그리스도이신데 목적, 생각,행위의 모든 면에서 완전히 아버지와 일치되어 의로우시고 정직한 분입니다.
2And He [that same Jesus Himself] is the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins, and not for ours alone but also for [the sins of] the whole world. 그리고 예수님 자신이 우리 죄를 위한 화목제물이시며 또한 우리의 죄 뿐만 아니라 온 세상의 죄를 위한 것입니다.
3And this is how we may discern [daily, by experience] that we are coming to know Him [to perceive, recognize, understand, and become better acquainted with Him]: if we keep (bear in mind, observe, practice) His teachings (precepts, commandments). 이런 방법으로 우리가 그분의 가르침(교훈과 계명)을 지키면(명심하고 준수하고 행하면) 그분을 (매일, 경험으로) 알아가게(감각으로 느끼고 인지하고 이해하고 더 친해져 가게)됩니다.
4Whoever says, I know Him [I perceive, recognize, understand, and am acquainted with Him] but fails to keep and obey His commandments (teachings) is a liar, and the Truth [of the Gospel] is not in him.누구든지 나는 그분을 아노라고(감지하고 인식하고 이해하고 그분과 친하다고) 하면서 그의 계명(가르침)을 지키고 순종하지 않으면 그는 거짓말장이요 (복음의) 진리가 그에게 없습니다.
5But he who keeps (treasures) His Word [who bears in mind His precepts, who observes His message in its entirety], truly in him has the love of and for God been perfected (completed, reached maturity). By this we may perceive (know, recognize, and be sure) that we are in Him: 그러나 그분의 말씀을 지키는자는 (전인격으로 그의 교훈을 마음에 담아 지키고 그의 말씀을 준행하고 지키는 자는) 누구든지 진실로 그의 안에 하나님의 사랑이 있을 뿐 아니라 그의 하나님에 대한 사랑이 성숙한 단계에 도달하여 완전케 됩니다. 이로써 우리는 그분안에 우리가 있음을 압니다.(감지하고 인식하고 확신합니다.)
6Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself. 그분안에 거한다 하는 사람은 누구든지 그분께서 걷고 행하신 그대로 걷고 행하여야 합니다.
7Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the message which you have heard [the doctrine of salvation through Christ]. 사랑하는 여러분 나는 여러분에게 새 계명을 쓰고 있는 것이 아니라 시초부터 들어 온 옛계명을 쓰고 있는데 그것은 여태껏 여러분들이 들어 온 (예수 그리스도를 통한 구원의 교리의) 메세지입니다.
8Yet I am writing you a new commandment, which is true (is realized) in Him and in you, because the darkness (moral blindness) is clearing away and the true Light (the revelation of God in Christ) is already shining. 그런데 나는 이제 새 계명을 쓰고 있는데, 그것은 그분과 여러분 안에서 현재화된 진실입니다. 왜냐하면 어둠(도덕적인 눈멈)이 사라지고 진실한 빛(그리스도안의 하나님의 계시)이 이미 비취고 있기 때문입니다.
9Whoever says he is in the Light and [yet] hates his brother [Christian, born-again child of God his Father] is in darkness even until now. 자기가 빛가운데 있다하면서도 아직도 형제(그리스도인, 중생한 아버지 하나님의 자녀)를 미워하는 사람은 아직까지도 어둠에 있는 자입니다.
10Whoever loves his brother [believer] abides (lives) in the Light, and in It or in him there is no occasion for stumbling or cause for error or sin. 믿는 형제를 사랑하는 자는 누구든지 빛가운데 거하고 그안에는 넘어짐의 기회나, 실수나 죄로 말미암는 정죄가 없습니다.
11But he who hates (detests, despises) his brother [in Christ] is in darkness and walking (living) in the dark; he is straying and does not perceive or know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 그러나 그리스도 안에 있는 그의 형제를 미워하는(혐오하는)사람은 어둠가운데 있고 어둠속을 걷는 것입니다. 어둠이 눈을 멀게 했기 때문에 빗겨나가 어디로 가고 있는지 지각하거나 알지 못하게 됩니다.
12I am writing to you, little children, because for His name's sake your sins are forgiven [pardoned through His name and on account of confessing His name]. 소자들이여 내가 편지하는 것은 여러분의 죄가 그 이름을 (통하여) 믿음으로(그 이름을 고백함으로써) 용서받았기 때문입니다.
13I am writing to you, fathers, because you have come to know (recognize, be aware of, and understand) Him Who [has existed] from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have been victorious over the wicked [one]. I write to you, boys (lads), because you have come to know (recognize and be aware) of the Father. 내가 편지하는 것은 아비들이여 여러분이 태초부터 계신 분을 알게 되었기 때문이며, 젊은사람들이여 여러분은 악한자를 이겼기 때문이며, 소년들이여 여러분은 하나님아버지를 알게 되었기 때문이요
14I write to you, fathers, because you have come to know (recognize, be conscious of, and understand) Him Who [has existed] from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong and vigorous, and the Word of God is [always] abiding in you (in your hearts), and you have been victorious over the wicked one. 아비들이여 여러분은 태초부터 계신이를 알았고 젊은이들이여 여러분은 강하고 담대하며 하나님의 말씀이 항상 여러분의 심령에 있어서 악한자를 이겼기 때문입니다.
15Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. 세상이나 세상에 있는 것들을 사랑하거나 소중히 여기지 마십시요. 세상을 사랑하는자는 아버지에 대한 사랑이 그의 안에 없습니다.
16For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one's own resources or in the stability of earthly things]--these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself]. 왜냐하면 세상에 있는 모든 것들이 - 육체의 정욕(감각적인 만족을 탐닉함-쾌락), 눈의 정욕(마음의 탐욕에 찬 갈망-탐욕), 삶의 자랑(육적원천을 의지함, 땅의 것에서 안정감을 찾음)인데 이것은 아버지로 말미암은 것이 아니라 세상자체에서 온 것입니다.
17And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever. 세상도 정욕도 지나가고 사라지지만 하나님의 뜻을 행하는 사람, 그의 삶에서 하나님의 목적을 실행해나가는 사람은 영원히 남아서 거합니다
18Boys (lads), it is the last time (hour, the end of this age). And as you have heard that the antichrist [he who will oppose Christ in the guise of Christ] is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen, which confirms our belief that it is the final (the end) time. 소년들이여, 이세대의 마지막 때가 왔습니다. 그리스도의 외양을 갖춘 그리스도를 반대하는 적그리스도가 올 것이라는 얘기를 여러분이 들어왔는데 지금 많은 적그리스도가 일어났으며 그것은 지금이 마지막 때라는 우리의 믿음을 확증해 줍니다.
19They went out from our number, but they did not [really] belong to us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us. But [they withdrew] that it might be plain that they all are not of us. 그들은 우리로부터 나갔지만 실제로 우리에게 속하지 않았습니다. 만약 그들이 우리에게 속했다면 우리와 함께 지금도 남아있을 것입니다.그러나 그들 모두 우리에게 속하지 않았으므로 빠져나간것은 명백한 것입니다.
20But you have been anointed by [you hold a sacred appointment from, you have been given an unction from] the Holy One, and you all know [the Truth] or you know all things. 그러나 여러분은 거룩한 분에 의해 그분으로부터 기름부음을 받아(성스런 직임을 받아서) 여러분 모두는 진리를 알고 혹은 여러분은 모든 것을 압니다.
21I write to you not because you are ignorant and do not perceive and know the Truth, but because you do perceive and know it, and [know positively] that nothing false (no deception, no lie) is of the Truth. 내가 편지를 쓰는 것은 여러분이 무지하거나 진리를 지각하지못하거나 몰라서가 아니라 여러분이 제대로 받아들이고 잘알고 있으며 거짓된 것은 어떤 것이라도 진리에서 오지 않음을 잘알고 있기 때문입니다.
22Who is [such a] liar as he who denies that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah) He is the antichrist (the antagonist of Christ), who [habitually] denies and refuses to acknowledge the Father and the Son. 누가 예수께서 그리스도이심을 부정하는 거짓말장이입니까 그는 바로 적그리스도요, 그는 아버지와 아들을 습관적으로 부정하고 인정하기를 거부하는 자입니다.
23No one who [habitually] denies (disowns) the Son even has the Father. Whoever confesses (acknowledges and has) the Son has the Father also. 아들을 부인하는 자에게는 아버지가 없으며 아들을 인정하고 모시며 고백하는 자는 아버지에 대해서도 또한 그러합니다.
24As for you, keep in your hearts what you have heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the first dwells and remains in you, then you will dwell in the Son and in the Father [always]. 여러분은 시초부터 들어온 것들을 심령에 간직하십시요. 그것들이 여러분 심령에 거하고 여러분안에 계속 남아 있게되면 여러분은 아들과 아버지안에 항상 거하게 될 것입니다.
25And this is what He Himself has promised us--the life, the eternal [life]. 그분 자신이 우리에게 주신 약속이 바로 이것 곧, 영생입니다.
26I write this to you with reference to those who would deceive you [seduce and lead you astray]. 나는 여러분을 속여서 미혹하여 곁길로 나가도록 하는 자들에 관하여 쓰고 있습니다.
27But as for you, the anointing (the sacred appointment, the unction) which you received from Him abides [permanently] in you; [so] then you have no need that anyone should instruct you. But just as His anointing teaches you concerning everything and is true and is no falsehood, so you must abide in (live in, never depart from) Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him], just as [His anointing] has taught you [to do]. 그러나 여러분에게는 그분에게서 받은 기름부음(성스런 직임)이 여러분 안에 영원히 내주하여 계시므로 다른 사람이 여러분을 가르칠 필요가 없습니다. 바로 그의 기름부으심(성령님)이 모든 것에 대해 가르쳐 주시는데, 그분은 참되고 거짓이 없읍니다. 그러므로 그분 안에 거하여 뿌리내리고 (연결되어) 계십시요. 그의 기름부으심이 여러분이 행할 바를 가르치시도록 말입니다.
28And now, little children, abide (live, remain permanently) in Him, so that when He is made visible, we may have and enjoy perfect confidence (boldness, assurance) and not be ashamed and shrink from Him at His coming. 그러므로 소자들이여, 그분 안에 거하십시요(영원히 사십시요). 그러면 그분이 모든 것을 분명히 하실 때 우리는 완전한 확신과 담대함을 가지고 그것을 즐거워 하게 되며, 그분이 오실 때 부끄럼없고 위축되지 않을 것입니다.
29If you know (perceive and are sure) that He [Christ] is [absolutely] righteous [conforming to the Father's will in purpose, thought, and action], you may also know (be sure) that everyone who does righteously [and is therefore in like manner conformed to the divine will] is born (begotten) of Him [God]. 만일 여러분이 그리스도께서 절대적으로 (목적, 생각, 행위에 있어서 아버지의 뜻에 완전히 충족되어) 완전히 의로우심을 알고 받아들이고 확신한다면 (하나님의 뜻을 따라) 의롭게 행하는 사람들은 누구든지 하나님으로부터 났음을 또한 알고 확신할 수 있습니다.
1 John 3
1SEE WHAT [an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him. 우리에게 베풀어주신 아버지의 질적인 사랑의 엄청남을 생각해 보십시요. 우리에게 하나님의 자녀라는 이름을 주시고 불러 주시고 친히 자녀로 삼아주셨습니다. 우리가 그런자들입니다. 세상이 우리를 알지도 못하고 인정하지도 않는 이유는 그분을 알지도 못하고 인정하지도 않기 때문입니다.
2Beloved, we are [even here and] now God's children; it is not yet disclosed (made clear) what we shall be [hereafter], but we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall [as God's children] resemble and be like Him, for we shall see Him just as He [really] is. 사랑하는 자들이여 우리는 지금 여기에서조차도 하나님의 자녀입니다. 우리가 장차 어떻게 될 것은 아직 분명하게 드러나지 않았지만 우리가 아는 것은 그분이 오셔서 밝히 드러내시면 하나님의 자녀인 우리도 그분을 많이 닮고 비슷해져 있으리라는 것입니다.
3And everyone who has this hope [resting] on Him cleanses (purifies) himself just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless). 그분에 대해 이 소망을 가진 자마다 그분이 죄없으시고 깨끗하고 순수하고 성결하신 것처럼 자기자신을 깨끗하고 성결하게 합니다.
4Everyone who commits (practices) sin is guilty of lawlessness; for [that is what] sin is, lawlessness (the breaking, violating of God's law by transgression or neglect--being unrestrained and unregulated by His commands and His will). 죄를 범하는 자마다 하나님의 법을 어기는 것(불법의 죄를 범함)이요 죄란 (그분의 명령과 그분의 뜻을 따르지 않고 거리낌이 없이 제 멋대로 통제되지않은 상태로) 하나님의 법을 위반하거나 무시함으로써 그분의 법을 어기는 것입니다.
5You know that He appeared in visible form and became Man to take away [upon Himself] sins, and in Him there is no sin [essentially and forever]. 여러분이 아는 대로 예수님은 눈에 보이는 형체로 나타나셔서 사람이 되사 죄를 없이 하셨습니다. 또한 그분에게는 죄가 없으십니다.
6No one who abides in Him [who lives and remains in communion with and in obedience to Him--deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] commits (practices) sin. No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [recognized, perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him]. 그분안에 거하는 사람은(꾸준히 그분과 함께 살며 교통하며 순종하는 사람- 심사숙고하고, 잘 숙지하고 있으며 그것을 습관화 하며 사는 사람) 죄를 범하지 않습니다. 습관적으로 죄를 짓는 사람은 그분을 보지도 못하였고 그분을 알지도 못합니다.(인식하지도, 지각하지도 이해하지도 못하고, 경험면에서도 잘알지 못합니다.)
7Boys (lads), let no one deceive and lead you astray. He who practices righteousness [who is upright, conforming to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action, living a consistently conscientious life] is righteous, even as He is righteous. 자녀들이여 어느 누구도 여러분을 기만하여(속여서) 곁길로 가지 않도록 하십시요. 의를 행하는자는(목적, 생각, 행위에 있어서 하나님의 뜻에 합치되고 정직하며, 꾸준히 양심적인 삶을 살아가는 사람은) 하나님이 의로우심처럼 그 또한 의롭습니다.
8[But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done]. 그러나 죄를 범하는 자(악한 일을 하는 자)는 마귀에게 속하는데 마귀는 태초부터 범죄한 자(하나님의 법을 어긴 자)입니다. 이세상에 나타나신 하나님의 아들은 마귀가 하는 일들을 멸하러(취소하고, 해방시키고, 와해시키러) 오셨습니다.
9No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, for God's nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God. 하나님으로부터 태어난 사람(하나님의 자녀)은 (죄에 대해 심사숙고해보고서, 잘 숙지해보고서, 그리고 습관적으로) 죄를 짓지 않습니다. 그안에 하나님의 본성이 있기 때문입니다.(삶에 대한 하나님의 원칙, 곧 하나님의 씨(말씀)이 영원히 그사람 내부에 남아있기 때문에):하나님으로 부터 태어났기 때문에 (계속) 범죄를 행할 수 없습니다.
10By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God's will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow believer in Christ). 이것으로 누가 하나님의 본성을 가진 하나님의 자녀인지, 마귀의 본성을 가진 마귀의 자녀인지 분명해집니다. 의를 행하지 않는(목적, 생각, 행위에 있어서 하나님의 뜻에 합치되지 않는) 사람은 하나님께 속해 있지 않습니다. 또한 그의 형제(그리스도를 믿는 동료신자)를 사랑하지 않는 사람도 마찬가지입니다.
11For this is the message (the announcement) which you have heard from the first, that we should love one another, 이런이유에서 처음부터 여러분이 들어 온 메세지는 우리는 서로 사랑해야 한다는 것입니다.
12[And] not be like Cain who [took his nature and got his motivation] from the evil one and slew his brother. And why did he slay him Because his deeds (activities, works) were wicked and malicious and his brother's were righteous (virtuous). 마귀로부터 본성과 그 동기를 받아서 그 형제를 죽인 가인을 닮지 마십시요. 왜 그가 그 형제를 죽였을까요 왜냐하면 그의 행위가 사악하고 악의에 차 있고 그의 형제는 (정결하고)의롭기 때문이었습니다.
13Do not be surprised and wonder, brethren, that the world detests and pursues you with hatred. 형제들이여, 세상이 여러분을 미워하고 악의(증오)에 차서 괴롭힌다 해도 놀라거나 이상하게 생각하지 마십시요.
14We know that we have passed over out of death into Life by the fact that we love the brethren (our fellow Christians). He who does not love abides (remains, is held and kept continually) in [spiritual] death. 우리가 아는 것은 우리 형제 그리스도인들을 사랑함의 실재에 의해 우리는 죽음을 넘어서서 통과하여 이미 생명으로 들어가 있는 것입니다. 사랑하지 않는 자는 여전히 영적인 죽음에 처해 있습니다.
15Anyone who hates (abominates, detests) his brother [in Christ] is [at heart] a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding (persevering) within him. 그리스도안에 있는 그의 형제를 마음에 미워하는(혐오하고 증오하고 질색해 하는)자는 살인자이며 그의 내부에는 영원한 생명이 없습니다.
16By this we come to know (progressively to recognize, to perceive, to understand) the [essential] love: that He laid down His [own] life for us; and we ought to lay [our] lives down for [those who are our] brothers [in Him]. 이로써 우리는 (진정한, 그리고 필수불가결한)사랑을 알게 됩니다.(점차적으로 인식하고 감지하며 이해하게 되어 갑니다.): 예수님은 우리를 위해 그 자신의 생명을 버리셨습니다. 이처럼 우리도 예수님안에서 형제된 자들을 위해 우리의 생명을 내어놓아야 합니다.
17But if anyone has this world's goods (resources for sustaining life) and sees his brother and fellow believer in need, yet closes his heart of compassion against him, how can the love of God live and remain in him 그러나 (삶을 영위하는데 소용되는)세상의 물건들을 누가 가지고 있으면서 궁핍한 그의 형제나 동료 신자를 보고서 긍휼의 마음을 닫아버리면 어떻게 하나님의 사랑이 그의 안에서 살아 있을 수 있겠습니까
18Little children, let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity). 소자들이여, 우리가 단순히 말이나 이론으로만 사랑하지 말고 행동과 진실함으로(행함과 진지함으로) 사랑합시다.
19By this we shall come to know (perceive, recognize, and understand) that we are of the Truth, and can reassure (quiet, conciliate, and pacify) our hearts in His presence, 이로써 우리가 진리에 속해 있음을 알고 (감지하고 인식하고 이해하고) 그분의 임재앞에서 우리의 심령을 재확인(고요하고 평온하며 조화롭게, 자신감을 갖게)할 수 있을 것입니다.
20Whenever our hearts in [tormenting] self-accusation make us feel guilty and condemn us. [For we are in God's hands.] For He is above and greater than our consciences (our hearts), and He knows (perceives and understands) everything [nothing is hidden from Him]. 우리 심령이 자책감으로 인해 괴로울 때는 언제든지, 우리에게 정죄감을 불러 일으킬 수 있습니다. 우리는 하나님의 손 안에 있기 때문입니다. 또한 위에 계시며 우리의 양심(심령)보다 더 크신 하나님은 모든 것을 아십니다.

1BELOVED, DO not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world. 사랑하는 여러분 모든 영을 다 믿지를 말고 영들을 시험하여 그들이 하나님으로부터 왔는지를 드러내어 확증하십시요. 왜냐하면 많은 거짓선지자들이 세상에 나타났기 때문입니다.
2By this you may know (perceive and recognize) the Spirit of God: every spirit which acknowledges and confesses [the fact] that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [actually] has become man and has come in the flesh is of God [has God for its source]; 이로써 하나님의 성령님을 알 수 있는데, 예수 그리스도께서 실제로 사람이 되어 육체로 오셨음을 인정하고 고백하는 모든 영은 하나님으로부터 온것입니다.
3And every spirit which does not acknowledge and confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh [but would annul, destroy, sever, disunite Him] is not of God [does not proceed from Him]. This [nonconfession] is the [spirit] of the antichrist, [of] which you heard that it was coming, and now it is already in the world. 예수 그리스도께서 육체로 오셨음을 인정하지도 고백하지도 않는(이 고백을 끊어내고 잘라내고 제거하는) 모든 영은 하나님으로부터 온 것이 아닙니다. 이것은(이 고백을 그대로 고백하지 않음) 적그리스도의 영으로서 예전에 여러분은 그들이 올 것이라고 들었으나 지금 이미 세상에 와 있습니다.
4Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world. 소자들이여, 여러분은 하나님의 것이며(하나님께 속해 있으며) 이미 그들(적그리스도의 영)을 패배시키고 이긴 자들입니다. 왜냐하면 여러분 안에 사시는 분이 세상에 있는 자보다 훨씬 강하시기 때문입니다.
5They proceed from the world and are of the world; therefore it is out of the world [its whole economy morally considered] that they speak, and the world listens (pays attention) to them. 그들은 세상으로부터 와서 세상에 속해 있습니다 : 그러므로(도덕적으로 고려된 세상의 모든 경제는) 세상으로부터 왔기 때문에 그들이 말하면 세상은 그들의 말을 듣습니다.(그들에게 주의를 기울입니다)
6We are [children] of God. Whoever is learning to know God [progressively to perceive, recognize, and understand God by observation and experience, and to get an ever-clearer knowledge of Him] listens to us; and he who is not of God does not listen or pay attention to us. By this we know (recognize) the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of error.우리는 하나님의 자녀입니다. 하나님을 아는 것을 배워가는(관찰하고 경험함으로써 하나님을 점차적으로 감지하고 인지하고 이해하고 항상 더 분명하게 하나님을 알아가는)사람들은 누구든지 우리의 말을 듣습니다. 하나님의 자녀가 아닌 사람은 우리의 말에 귀를 기울이거나 우리말을 듣지 않습니다. 이로써 우리는 진리의 영과 거짓의 영을 분별할 수 있습니다.
7Beloved, let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him]. 사랑하는 여러분, 우리는 서로 사랑합시다. 사랑은 하나님으로부터 (샘솟듯 터져나온)온 것입니다.:형제를 사랑하는 사람은 하나님께로부터 났고 점차적으로 하나님을 알고 이해하게(감지하고 인지하고 점점더 낫게 분명하게 그분을 알아가게) 되어 갑니다.
8He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. 사랑하지 않는 사람은 하나님을 결코 알지 못합니다.
9In this the love of God was made manifest (displayed) where we are concerned: in that God sent His Son, the only begotten or unique [Son], into the world so that we might live through Him. 이렇게 우리가 관계되는 곳에서 하나님의 사랑은 분명하게 드러났습니다. 그렇게 하나님은 그분의 독생자를 세상에 보내셔서 그분을 통해 우리가 살도록 하셨습니다.
10In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins. 사랑이 여기에 있습니다. 우리가 하나님을 사랑한 것이 아니라 그분이 무리를 사랑하셔서 화목제물로 아들을 보내주셨습니다.
11Beloved, if God loved us so [very much], we also ought to love one another. 사랑하는 여러분 하나님이 우리를 그처럼 사랑하셨으므로 우리 또한 마땅히 서로 사랑해야합니다.
12No man has at any time [yet] seen God. But if we love one another, God abides (lives and remains) in us and His love (that love which is essentially His) is brought to completion (to its full maturity, runs its full course, is perfected) in us! 어느 때건 어느 누구도 하나님을 본 자가 없습니다. 그러나 우리가 서로 사랑하면 하나님이 우리 안에 거하시고 그의 사랑이 우리 안에서 완전하게 이루어집니다(완전한 경로로 충만히 성숙해서 완성되게 됩니다.).
13By this we come to know (perceive, recognize, and understand) that we abide (live and remain) in Him and He in us: because He has given (imparted) to us of His [Holy] Spirit. 이로써 우리는 우리가 그분안에 , 그분이 우리 안에 거함(살아계심)을 알아가게 됩니다.(감지하고 인지하며 이해하게 됩니다.):왜냐하면 그분은 우리에게 성령님을 부어 주셨기 때문입니다.
14And [besides] we ourselves have seen (have deliberately and steadfastly contemplated) and bear witness that the Father has sent the Son [as the] Savior of the world. 우리는 성부께서 성자를 세상의 구세주로 보내셨음을 우리자신이 보았고(심사숙고 하며 꾸준히 응시해 보았고) 또 증거했습니다.
15Anyone who confesses (acknowledges, owns) that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides (lives, makes His home) in him and he [abides, lives, makes his home] in God. 예수께서 하나님의 아들이심을 고백하는(알고 자기의 것으로 소유하는) 자는 누구든지 하나님께서 그의 안에 거하시고 그는 하나님안에 거합니다.
16And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him. 우리는 하나님이 우리를 소중히 하시는(위하시는) 사랑을 알고(관찰과 경험으로 이해하고 인식하고 의식화하고) 믿었습니다.(신뢰하고 굳게 붙들었습니다.) 하나님은 사랑이십니다. 사랑안에 거하며 사랑을 지속하는 사람은 하나님 안에 거하며 지속하여 거하게 되며, 하나님은 또한 그의 안에 거하시며 지속하여 거하십니다.
17In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world. 그분과의 하나됨과 친교안에서 우리의 사랑은 완전해지고 완벽에 도달하게 됩니다. 그래서 우리는 심판의 그날에 확신을 가질 수 있습니다. 왜냐하면 바로 그분처럼 이세상에서 우리 또한 그렇게 되기 때문입니다.
18There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love's complete perfection]. 사랑 안에는 두려움이 없습니다. 완전한 사랑은 두려움을 문밖으로 쫓아버리고 공포의 흔적조차 축출하여버립니다. 두려움은 그안에 형벌에 대한 생각을 가져옵니다. 그래서 두려워하는 자들은 사랑의 완전한 성숙에 도달하지 못한 것입니다.(아직 사랑의 완벽한 완전성까지 자라지 못한 것입니다.)
19We love Him, because He first loved us. 우리는 그분을 사랑합니다. 왜냐하면 그분이 먼저 우리를 사랑하셨기 때문임비다.
20If anyone says, I love God, and hates (detests, abominates) his brother [in Christ], he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, Whom he has not seen. 내가 하나님을 사랑하노라고 말하면서 그리스도안에 있는 형제를 미워하는 자는 누구든지 거짓말장이입니다. 보이는 바 그의 형제를 사랑하지 않는 자가 보이지 않는 하나님을 어찌 사랑할 수 있겠습니까
21And this command (charge, order, injunction) we have from Him: that he who loves God shall love his brother [believer] also. 그리고 이 계명은 예수님으로부터 받았습니다. 하나님을 사랑하는 자는 또한 마땅히 그의 형제를 사랑해야 합니다. |
